The continuous upgrades of computers and other multimedia devices are indeed amazing. However, the upgrade of some of their peripherals like mouse and keyboards have not yet seen any significant changes, perhaps due to the ever-growing influence of touch screen. But such slow pace is somehow being challenged by the introduction a wearable device that would soon replace mouse and keyboard, and would even thwart the popularity swipes and taps for touchscreen devices.
If you are into 'iron man' movies then this technology would be easy to digest. With the help of Gest, a Nintendo Power Glove, users would experience the use of wearable devices replacing mouse and keyboard movement actions. Having 15 sensors on it, this type of Nintendo power glove is designed to allow users to interact with computers and mobile devices without the need of the common peripherals. (Click for Image)
The device works with the use of one palm strap and four finger connectors. And each connector is lined to the strap by wires having sensors with a latency of approximately 40 - 60 ms for higher accuracy. The said Gest Nintendo Power Glove also supports Bluetooth connectivity for more freedom and convenience.
According to wareable, "the controller is designed to learn how the user performs gestures like swiping, pointing, flicking, and grabbing. You can also customize your own gestures for additional controller support. It uses accelerometer, gyroscopes, and magnetometers to determine your finger positions. The company claims that the statistical model used in the device makes it 'the most accurate gestural interface on the market today.'"
With the promised accuracy, its developer together with Nintendo assures its future users that Gest is perfect for graphic designers are using programs like Photoshop for imaging, or AutoCAD for 3D modeling. The device itself also has a greater potential for virtual reality use, thus making the virtual reality industry an interesting niche for tech savvy's.
