The "Toy Story" fourth installment of the popular animated movie was the topic of rumors for some time now, D23 reported. However, Pixar films production has not released official news until recently. Many fans believed for a while that "Toy Story 3" was the perfect ending for the animated story. But now, in the age of sequels and reboots, the temptation of bringing the characters of Buzz, Woody and company back for a fourth film, was just impossible to resist, Vulture reported.
During the "The Graham Norton Show," Hanks spoke about his cherished years of experiences in working as Woody's voice, and its difference with live acting. After which, the actor dropped the news casually like it has been expected all along.
"We're now recording Toy Story 4. So we're doing that and it will be out in 2018, so it takes a long time," Hanks said, mentioning the shocking news with such casualness that almost seemed as if it was not too big of a deal, when the truth is, thousands of kids and twenty-something-year-olds have surely jumped for joy when they heard the announcement.
The "Toy Story 4" movie director, John Lasseter, will be returning to direct the upcoming "Toy Story" film. His role as Pixar's executive producer is to supervise all the film company's projects. His work record consists of directing "Toy Story 1 and 2," "A Bug's Life," as well as the first two "Cars" movies. Josh Cooley will be working with him as a co-director.
"Toy Story 4" is scheduled for a cinematic release on June 15, 2018.
