"Arrow" season 4 has been gaining so much interest after the mid-season finale teased a possible Felicity Smoak death, and the video preview for season 4, episode 10 added more fuel to speculations.
It seems that Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) will not survive the gunshot wound she obtained after Damien Darhk's (Neil McDonough) assassins fired at her and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). To make OliCity fans even more worried, The CW released a rather upsetting video preview for "Arrow" season 4, episode 10 showing the flash forward grave scene and a hospital scene where Felicity is fighting for her life. It is an understatement to say that the fans are upset. Some even vowed not to watch the series again if Felicity gets killed off.
To calm fans down, all they need is an assurance that Felicity will not die, at least not for now. The writers and producers have already talked about in various interviews that they have plans for OliCity in the coming episodes.
According to Yibada, Wendy Mericle, executive producer of "Arrow," stated the show will explore the ups and downs of the OliCity relationship during season 4, and for religious viewers they would know that this one particular plot has not yet transpired. This is enough to guarantee that Felicity will recover from her wounds.
However, with Felicity in critical condition, how could she possibly escape death? One possibility is Oliver using the water from the Lazarus Pit to revive his dying fiancée. Although the Pit was destroyed by Nyssa Al Ghul (Katrina Law) so that no one could ever use it again, it is still unknown whether the spell she cast would last for long.
Granted that Nyssa will be back in the second half of "Arrow" season 4 as reported by Unreality TV, one could only think that this reappearance could mean that what she once destroyed, The Lazarus Pit, is back to resurrecting and healing.
Viewers already know what using the Lazarus Pit could entail. Hence, if this magical tub of water will be used on Felicity's wound, one could only assume that she would have heightened mood swings which could lead to what the show's producer said about the ups and downs of Oliver and Felicity's relationship.
There is also the question of Oliver hiding the truth about his son's existence from Felicity. Oli's fiancée has been known for her meekness so an old Felicity may just brush off this lie and accept Oliver regardless. On the other hand, a Felicity with Lazarus Pit effect coursing through her veins would react differently once she comes to know about Oliver's secret.
