"Arrow" season 4 will bring back one of the favorite superheroes in the series, Roy Harper aka Arsenal.
Many viewers were surprised when Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) left in "Arrow" season 3. His open-ended exit from the show left fans speculating as to why Roy had to leave and assume a different identity. However, viewers will be delighted to know that the beloved character will make an appearance in "Arrow" season 4, Movie News Guide reported.
Haynes, the actor playing Roy, took to Twitter to share the news, saying, "Just landed in Vancouver to...BEGIN FILMING ON #ARROW AGAIN!!! So excited!!!"
"Arrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed Haynes' post by saying he is excited that the 27-year-old actor is back as Roy Harper in "Arrow" season 4. Guggenheim said that the production wanted to reintroduce Roy in the series given the right plotline. "It was always our intention to have him return following his departure last season," he said.
In "Arrow" season 3, Roy faked his death in prison to ultimately save Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), formerly known as The Hood. He then left Star City but not before giving Thea Queen (Willa Holland) the chance to be with him.
Thea eventually found Roy but by then he was using the name Jason and was working as a mechanic. Unfortunately after being together briefly, Roy left Thea, leaving his Arsenal suit to her. His character has not been seen since then. Thea is now using the Arsenal suit and goes by the name of Speedy.
With Roy coming back to Star City, many viewers are speculating as to how much he knows regarding the situation the city is in and why exactly he will return. According to Master Herald, Roy might return to help the team figure out how Thea could overcome her bloodlust after she was dipped in the Lazarus Pit. It should be noted that Roy experienced something similar in season 2.
Other speculations include Roy coming back and getting killed off as a justification for the flash forward scene during the pilot episode of "Arrow" season 4, wherein Oliver was seen standing over a grave. Whatever the reasons are for Roy's return, it is certain that he will be back in "Arrow" season 4 episode 12 after the midseason hiatus.
