Martin Shkreli became "America's Most Hated Man" for using company rights to increase the prices of lifesaving drugs in the last quarter of 2015. Shkreli has been criticized and insulted by a lot of people who followed his story. He was also the identity behind Wu Tang Clan's $2 million album buyer. But just recently, a woman claims to have gone on a Tinder date with "Pharma Bro" between the months of September and December, in the height of his controversial story.
The Tinder date was Jacklyn Collier who works at an actress and a writer. Collier was swiping pictures on her Tinder app when she stumbles upon Shkreli's picture. Even with the possibility of a hoax, Collier swiped right.
Collier shared her story on a first-person article on Washington Post. She claims that Shkreli started contacting her around September and they agreed to meet each other over meals. Collier was not uninformed of Shkreli's scandal because it was all over the news since September.
"I was convinced that the profile was a fake. The photos were the ones that were being circulated in the media, and his profile simply read 'American entrepreneur," says Collier.
After Collier's feats of trying to break the alleged Shkreli, Pharma Bro sent her a selfie with his driver's license and credit card to prove his identity.
Shkreli's Tinder date was actually very pleased with him. Contrary to how media brands him and his hater-taunting nature in Twitter, Shkreli turned out to be very considerate and patient, asking Collier what day worked best for her, where and what her favorite food was.
Collier said that Pharma Bro was smaller in person than he was on TV and news catalogues. She also revealed that Shkreli admitted being a lightweight drinker.
Collier notes that there were moments during the dates when SHkreli acted cocky like the way he was in the news but also pointed out that it felt untrue and even suggested that it was only a façade to hide his sensitive and silent personality.
GQ Magazine voted Martin Shkreli as the worst man in 2015.
