'Princess Diaries 3' is not currently under production. Despite reports indicating that Disney is making Anne Hathaway play Mia, the lead role in the movie, the actress has denied allegations in several occasions.
'Princess Diaries' first hit the theaters in 2001, according to International Business Times. After which, 'Princess Diaries: The Royal Engagement' also hit the theaters and shared the same amount of success in the box office like the first one. In both of the movie franchises, Disney kept the lead roles for Mia, performed by Anne Hathaway; the Queen of Genovia, portrayed by Julie Andrews; and Lilly, Mia's best friend who was portrayed by Heather Matarazzo.
According to The Daily Mail, Matarazzo recently shared on Twitter a link to an article that headlined "Princess Diaries 3 Is Actually Happening." The actress captioned the shared article as, "Well here is some good news for #PrincessDiaries fans."
Meanwhile, Meg Cabot, the author of the young adult book series on which the two movies were based, released a new addition to the series entitled, 'The Princess Diaries XI Royal Wedding.'
After these reveals, several websites implicated that Disney is instilling efforts to bring the 'Princess Diaries' back on the big screen with a third franchise. Despite reports, a source from Entertainment Weekly who is linked with Disney revealed that there is no sequel or current ongoing production for the third installment.
Anne Hathaway, the now Oscar-winning actress whose name was first recognized in the movie industry because of her role in 'Princess Diaries,' seemed to have denied allegations that the said project is currently under production.
The said reports about the third sequel of 'Princess Diaries' seemed to have emanated from The Tracking Board last Thursday, which claimed that 'Princess Diaries 3' was currently under production by Walt Disney Co. and under the producer Debra Chase, the person behind the first and second movies of the franchise.
