"Guardians of the Galaxy" was one of the most surprising movies to hit the charts back when it hit theatres in 2014. After confirmation that the movie is up for a sequel in 2017, several plot rumors surfaced on the Internet, including the possibility of focusing on Peter Quill aka Star-Lord's father in "GOTG 2."
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" has been confirmed for a 2017 release in theatres and director James Gunn will be returning to helm the sequel. Several speculations about the sequel's plot came out, including theories that the Hulk will be joining the team and the revelation of Peter Quill/Star-Lord's real father as one of the sequel's main focus.
James Gunn recently confirmed that Star-Lord's father will be one of the sequel's highlights via Twitter, Movie Pilot cited. While the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie seemed to be all about Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finding himself and working together with Groot (Vin Diesel), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), the upcoming sequel will seem to have a touch of family in its storyline.
"It'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that," Gunn said, according to Movie News Guide.
This confirmation has led to another round of speculations and theories among fans about the real identity of Star-Lord's father. While some may say that the identity of his father is already a giveaway for those who have read the comics, Gunn revealed that Star-Lord's father in the comics will be "different from the ones in the movies."
The Collector is one of the leading choices amongst the growing list of Peter Quill's possible fathers. The outlet also noted on the possibility of Thanos and J'Son as Star-Lord's real father.
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" premieres on May 5, 2017.
