"Attack on Titan" Season 2 is still nearly a year left before the anime series returns to the small screen. The first season of "Shingeki no Kyojin" covered four story arcs and the upcoming sequel will be focusing on the "Clash of Titans" story, which features a bigger and more intelligent Titan, as Erwin Smith tries to overthrow the King.
"Attack on Titan" or "Shingeki no Kyojin" will return for Season 2 in 2016 after almost three years of waiting. Much of the delay is attributed to the fact that Wit Studio and Production IG are still waiting for more manga chapters before production for the anime series begins, Crossmap reported.
The first "Attack on Titan" anime covered the first 34 chapters of the manga, including four story arcs namely: "The Fall of Shiganshina," "104th Trainees Squad," "Battle of Trost District" and "The Female Titan."
The manga version of "Shingeki no Kyojin" is currently two story arcs ahead of the first anime series, which perfectly explains the cause of delay for the release of the second season.
Christian Today cited that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 will feature a bigger and more intelligent Titan, as the story begins to focus on the "Clash of Titans" story arc.
"Attack on Titan" Season 2 will follow the story of a group of Titans penetrating the walls and the 104th Trainees Squad battling against the group. Fans may also expect to see Erwin Smith take the center stage in the upcoming sequel, as he tries to overthrow the current King of the city after realizing that the King does not have the humans' best interests at heart.
While fans still have months to wait for the second season of "Shingeki no Kyojin" to come out on their screens, two live-action movies based on "Attack on Titan" Season 1 will be released in August and September.
