"Outlander" star Sam Heughan has been doing a lot of preparation for Season 2 of the Starz time traveler series and that includes learning the French language. The 35-year-old Scottish actor has been put to a French tongue twister test during the Monte Carlo Television Festival. Did he ace the test?
"Outlander" Season 2 will be covering Diana Gabaldon's second book, "Dragonfly in Amber," as Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) head over to France to try to stop the Battle of Culloden from taking place. Heughan revealed that he had to take French lessons in order to prepare for the second season of the Starz time traveler series.
The Scottish actor was put to a test to see how far he has progressed in his French lessons, as some fans asked him to read an infamous French tongue twister during the Monte Carlo Television Festival, Outlander TV News reported.
Heughan immediately caught up with the fans and said, "This is a test now, huh?" The Scottish actor then went on and read the phrase. The fans praised him for his almost flawless pronunciation of the French language (which, by the way, is one of the sexiest languages in the world).
Heughan explained that he has been reading on the set of "Outlander" in preparation for the scenes in Season 2. Meanwhile, "Harry Potter" actress Frances de la Tour was recently cast in the Starz series as Mother Hildegarde, TV Line noted.
"Frances De La Tour is intelligent and commanding, which is why she'll make a great Mother Hildegarde! #Outlander," wrote the official Twitter account of the series.
De La Tour is best known for her role as Beauxbatons headmistress, Madame Maxime in the "Harry Potter" franchise. Her character in "Outlander" will be working alongside Balfe's Claire, as the latter spends time at the L'Hopital des Anges.
