"Outlander" Season 2 will see the return of Sam Heughan as Jamie and Caitriona Balfe as Claire, as they head over to France to try and stop the Battle of Culloden from taking place. The Starz time traveler drama will be adapting author Diana Gabaldon's second book in her series, for which showrunner Ron Moore admitted to making significant changes in the series.
"I think there's more adaptation. I think there are changes. For fans who know the book, they know the book is a more complicated structure in terms of how Diana wrote it," Moore told EW.
The showrunner also explained that "Dragonfly in Amber" had different POVs along with a more complex storyline. While Moore admitted that certain changes had to be made in adapting Gabaldon's book to television, the showrunner expressed relief that the author liked these changes.
"It's not going to be a literal adaptation... But I think it's very much the same story, the major characters are all represented, the major scenes are all represented, and it still gets you to all the same places you want to go," he added.
Meanwhile, "Outlander" star Sam Heughan revealed that he is very excited to get back on set to film scenes for Season 2.
"I was definitely very, very excited - we all were - to come back to the show. It feels like an old family and everyone's there, but it feels familiar, which is wonderful," he told The Wrap.
The 35-year-old Scottish actor also seemingly shared the same thoughts as Moore and admitted that the second season of "Outlander" will have a "completely different story."
