Ben Affleck joined the cast of the upcoming film "Batman v Superman" during Warner Bros. Comic Con panel Saturday, July 11. This marks the actor's first public appearance since he and wife Jennifer Garner announced their split a few weeks ago.
Affleck is set to star as "Batman" alongside "Superman" Henry Cavill in the DC superhero mash-up "Batman v Superman." According to E!News, Affleck appeared with a slightly bulked up physique and even showed a "little bit of weariness" onstage. Although, the star lost his seemingly fatigued demeanor once the panel's host, Aisha Tyler, started to interview Affleck about his role.
The 42 year old star recounted his conversation with director Zack Snyder, when the latter revealed he wanted to cast Affleck as "Batman." The "Argo" actor said that he wouldn't have taken the role if he thought about the other actors who previously played the Dark Knight, reports US Weekly. Affleck also recalled asking Snyder if he was sure of his casting decision, and shared that the director told him he's "perfect for it." The star adds that Snyder's vision of the character was an older burned-out hero, who is at the "end of his rope."
Over the years, the DC superhero Batman has been portrayed on the big screen by famous actors such as Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Val Kilmer and Christian Bale. During the Comic Con panel, Affleck also shared his chance encounter with Bale. It seems Affleck met the former caped crusader while shopping for a "Batman" costume with his son. When asked for useful tips in playing the character, Bale reportedly replied, "Make sure you can piss through that suit."
Aside from Affleck, the "Superman v Batman" panel also featured cast members Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot who plays "Wonder Woman" and director Zack Snyder. Comic con attendees who were present during the Saturday panel were treated to never-before-seen footage of the movie.
After almost ten years of being together, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced their divorce on June 30. They have three children, son Samuel and two daughters Violet and Seraphina.
