DC comics and movie fans are still talking about the latest "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer. While it presented viewers with snippets of the chaotic events that will ultimately lead to an epic superhero battle, none could be as interesting as the snaps showing Lex Luthor's influence over Superman. The trailer even showed three key scenes depicting Luthor's apparent power over the superhero.
The most obvious is that Lex Luthor has a big Kryptonite rock. Everybody knows that Superman's main weakness is Kryptonite and with Luthor wielding one, it is sure to bring the superhero to his knees. Although it is still unclear how the villainous man was able to get one in the first place. However, Cinema Blend thinks that Superman's archenemy could have obtained the Kryptonite while looking for the wreckage of the World Engine. The site adds that this could be the reason why a quick shot of a diver was shown in the trailer. The Cinema Blend report also mentioned Bruce Wayne possibly obtaining or stealing the rock from Luthor, given rumors that Batman will be using a Kryptonite spear during his battle with Superman.
The second is Luthor's political influence and government connections. The beginning of the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer showed scenes of a committee hearing led by a U.S. senator with Superman in attendance. The U.S. Senator, played by Holly Hunter, was questioning the Man of Steel and holding him responsible for everything that happened. A later scene revealed the U.S. senator visiting Lex Luthor's house and talking to the billionaire. Movie Pilot describes this scene as very dangerous. Luthor's political connection increases his leverage over Superman. It will be very easy for the villain to convince his government affiliations to follow his dastardly plan.
The Lex Luthor and Superman scene that piqued the greatest interest of fans was of the DC superhero kneeling in front of his nemesis. Although the Man of Steel does look up at Luthor in disgust, stated Slash Film, still many fans are wondering what the eccentric billionaire could have over Superman. It could be because of the Kryptonite or something else that is forcing the superhero to bow before Luthor. This is a mystery and something that will surely be answered when the movie is released.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is expected to hit movie theaters in March 2016.
