'X-Men: Apocalypse' Update and Spoiler Alert: Channing Tatum Might Cameo As Gambit

"X-Men" fanatic and Channing Tatum fans are getting excited over rumors that the actor's Gambit character may be doing a cameo for the upcoming film "X-Men: Apocalypse."

The rumors started when "X-Men: Apocalypse" director, Bryan Singer, uploaded a selfie shot with the "Magic Mike XXL" star. Singer accompanied the picture with a short note, stating how he "always wanted to work" with Tatum. The director also included two hashtags: #XMen and #Gambit. This hinted that the "Gambit" star may be making a cameo on Singer's "X-Men" movie, stated ComicBookMovie. Although a few movie fans already thought of a possible "Gambit" appearance in "X-Men: Apocalypse" especially after Tatum's Comic Con appearance with the cast members of the Marvel Cinema Universe franchise.

The star made a surprise appearance during 20th Century Fox's panel at the San Diego Comic Con last Saturday, July 11. The actor suddenly appeared for the iconic superhero selfie with Stan Lee, alongside other Marvel superhero movie cast members. The "Gambit" star reportedly was not featured on any of the panel presentations. This got fans thinking why he was there.

A theory from Cinema Blend stated that Tatum could have been filming a cameo appearance for "X-Men: Apocalypse" and was flown in from the movie's filming location in Canada, along with other cast members. The site added that instead of being the only one left in Canada, the actor joined other "X-Men" actors in Comic Con. Cinema Blend also mentioned that these are purely speculation given that Tatum previously denied news of an "X-Men: Apocalypse" role.

Channing Tatum is set to star in Fox's forthcoming movie "Gambit." Details about the movie have been sparse. Although initial plans were reported, where Tatum would make a short appearance in "X-Men: Apocalypse" before doing his own "Gambit" movie.

"Gambit" will be directed by Rupert Wyatt and is scheduled to an October 7, 2016 release.
