Acquiring a historical home may cost extra to refurbish and may take some time. But having a historic house as your residence adds a touch of character and class to your home.
At present, historic properties are disappearing one at a time. According to THV 11, one house in Little Rock neighborhood has recently received a demolition order because the historic home was not safe for the public.
The owner indicates that she needs more time to restore it but after several requests for time extensions to do so, the city finally decided that it needed to go. The owner, despite the order, says that the house may not look residential at the moment but if she was given ample time to refurbish it, it would be a very grand building. Furthermore, the said property also meant a lot to her because her father bought the property back in the 60's which makes the house have that character and story to it.
Knowing this, there are some people who know the value of historic homes which tell a lot of stories over the years that they have been around. Therefore, with the right clients that are willing to acquire a home that would yield more character to a home, the first thing to consider is to ensure that developments may be complete in a longer period of time and that although the costs would be high, it would be worth the effort and budget.
According to New York Times, there are some neighborhoods that have a couple of historic homes. One of which is the Brooklyn Heights which is considered as one of the most beautiful and peaceful neighborhoods greatly because of the presence of numerous historic homes.
Mr. Blickestaff, one of the owners of these historic homes, said that they were lucky enough to have the opportunity to acquire a one-bedroom co-op for $525,000. According to him, they are spending about $50,000 to $60,000 on renovations. Despite the amount of budget that they will incur in turning the house into a home, they feel that it is worth the time and effort because it will then be a place with history and have that unique character that not many homes have.
