"Game of Thrones" fans have been waiting for latest news on Season 6. Fortunately two cast members have shared a few details about the popular HBO series. In two separate interviews, Conleth Hill who plays Varys explains how his character is different from Baelish, while Emilia Clarke talks about Daenerys and the exciting events in Season 6.
During the Entertainment Weekly party at the San Diego Comic Con held July 11, io9 caught up with "Game of Thrones" (GoT) cast member Conleth Hill to talk about his character Varys. Hill shared that while Varys may be similar to Tyrion, the actor's "GoT" character is the total opposite of Petyr Baelish. The actor explained that the essence of their conflict stems from the two wanting change and power. Although both long for control, Varys' aim is to gain order while Littlefinger's motives cause chaos. Hill said he believes Baelish is more selfish than Varys, given that Littlefinger's plans are fueled by ego while Spider is a less selfish manipulator.
When io9 asked whether his "Game of Thrones" character is worried that supporting Daenerys Targaryen is a wrong decision given the Khaleesi's impulsive actions in Season 5, Hill reportedly said that the Spider is not doubting Dany and would not have gone to Meereen if he was not supportive of the Khaleesi. "The Targaryen restoration has been a long-held ambition of his," Hill added.
In the io9 interview, Hill reportedly his character will be working with Tyrion to restore order to Meereen in "Game of Thrones" Season 6 . Hill explained that Varys seems to enjoy the challenge of putting a chaotic city back in order and using all available resources to do so. He also mentioned that he finds the Spider having more in common with Tyrion since both characters were once victims and now survivors.
Meanwhile, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Emilia Clarke shared that "Game of Thrones" Season 6 will be "really exciting." Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, told that publication that there's more in store for the Khaleesi. Clarke added, "This season coming up... It's just go, go, go, go. Shocking moment to shocking moment. Epic moment to epic moment. It's mental; it's epic. And definitely Dany's a part of it."
It seems that the next season of the HBO series will be as gripping and exciting as previous seasons. "Game of Thrones" Season 6 is expected to return to the small screens in March or April 2016.
