Breaking News for Fantastic Four followers, the film is set to have a sequel slated on 2017. But fans still fear of the controversial casting, and are anticipating for the worst.
At the recent report of Comic Book, it says that cast members of the "Fantastic Four" have been thinking ahead of what the sequel would be like for them. Yes! The rebooted film is yet shown in theaters but there have been talks already of the sequel which is due on 2017. So the main casts have been asked how they would anticipate sequel.
Jamie Bell boldly answered that he would like the characters to interact like how they did in the comics. It would be appealing for him if people get to recognize the characters. "The job of the next film is taking it further and having the characters already established, seeing them interact in the very famous kind of way," Bell said.
Of course, heroes need villains. So the casts were also asked about their pick for the next villains. Of course, they get to consider Silver Surfer, which was the last "Fantastic 4" sequel in 2007. But Michael B. Jordan, who played the Human Torch, said that Namor would be a cool villain for the "Fantastic Four" sequel. According to Jordan, Namor is the strongest mutant and fighting him would give a very interesting battle in next movie installment of "Fantastic Four."
While in the press con, the casts have been talking about the future of "Fantastic Four," fans could not still get over with the controversial casting. Yes! The 20th Century Fox might be thinking out of the box so to speak. But fans are anticipating of the worst to come for the said franchise film. CNBC reports that "Fantastic Four" fanatics might boycott the movie. But despite this so-called adverse reactions of fans, David Bank, a media analyst at RBC Capital Markets, has explained the move of the studio. "Fox is a different kind of studio than most other studios. They don't tend to swing for the fences. They don't make the gigantic big bets, and they don't miss very often," Bank told CNBC in an interview.
Aside from fans, other critics from the media also have shared their takes of "Fantastic Four." NY Post reports that Hollywood could still not nail the said movie. The franchise movies might have earned respectable amount in 2005 and 2007, but still critics including fanboys didn't received the superhero movie well. What could be the missing piece from previous films of "Fantastic Four?"
Philip Morton, who once worked on a draft of the 1990's "Fantastic Four," said that this film would go back to relating to the lives of people just like any other mythic story. "You can give someone a thousand powers, but it's about what their hopes are, how do they hurt, what are their regrets?" Morton explained.
James Viscardi, Executive editor of Comic Book and former Marvel employee, said that for "Fantastic Four" to be well-received, it should be like an "Avengers-level franchise." It has also been pointed out that the "Four's unique interpersonal dynamic has also been absent." According to Viscardi, the cast didn't gel together like how a family should be. The movie where Jessica Alba and Chris Evans starred felt schlocky. Aside from the rapport of the cast members, the element of big ideas including the cutting-edge science has been missing on-screen.
Learning from the previous "Fantastic Four" movies, it is with the hope that the 20th Century Fox has addressed those hitches especially as early as now, they have envisioned a sequel of the movie that is now due next week in theater.
"Fantastic Four" will hit in theater on August 7, 2015.
