‘Naruto’ Movie Update: Unknown Visual Artist Boldly Takes The Challenge To Helm the Famous Japanese Manga To Movie Adaptation As Directorial Debut?

Lionsgate has finally found the director for the live-action movie adaptation of "Naruto." The Japanese manga series has been famous since 1997 and has been adapted to TV Animation.

Blastr reports that Lionsgate has contracted Michael Gracey, visual effect artist, to direct an action-packed adaptation of the famous Japanese manga that's created by Masashi Kishimoto.

It has been reported that the studio is presently in talks for the "Naruto" film rights. As recalled the famous Japanese manga had been first published in 1997. It was followed by the "Adventures of Naruto Uzumaki." The story revolved around the young shinobi who dreamt to become a Hokage, a ninja who protects the village.

Aside from the mange, it has been mentioned earlier that it was also adapted into an anime series in 2002 in Japan. The anime series had 220 episodes. The first anime series had a sequel "Naruto: Shippuden" which has been aired since 2007. And now after almost two decades, the famous manga and anime will now have a new movie "Boruto: Naruto the Movie."

Slash Films says that Avi Arad will produce the feature film of "Naruto." Lionsgate also tapped a visual effect artist that is to be proven as a director. For Michael Gracey to helm the famous Japanese manga into a movie adaptation, it might be a humongous task since he has not done any big screen project to date.

Gracey has been known to work along side the following famous producers and directors: Alfonso Cuaron and Guillermo del Toro. He had projects with Warner Bros. as well and now currently doing the "Daughter of Smoke and Bone" with Universal studio. Yet, directing a phenomenal Japanese manga might be a tall order for Gracey. Indeed it is a bold move for him to do it since it has said "Naruto" is a "huge property for Lionsgate to bring to the big screen as the third highest-selling manga in the history of the medium, and it has a worldwide fanbase." Making a live-action movie adaptation is quite interesting especially those who are expecting this movie to happen.
