TV Series News: Showtime Adapts Patti Smith 'Just Kids' Into Mini-Sreies

A new mini-series will grace the screens in Showtime. The best-selling book of Patti Smith entitled "Just Kids". The book talks about her journey in New York with Robert Mapplethorpe and will produced and co-written by Smith and John Logan, the showrunner for Showtime's "Penny Dreadful."

Patti Smith is one of the music's industry's iconic stars. She has produced and sung several songs such as 'Rock N Roll Nigger", "People Have the Power", "Dancing Baerfoot" and "Land", among other chart-topping songs in the history of rock and roll.

Smith was also able to write a book entitled "Just Kids" which received the National Book Award and has been translated to more than 40 languages due to its popularity, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Currently, Showtime's president, David Nevins, has grown fond of Smith's book that he wish to incorporate her writing on her screen into a mini-series. According to Nevins, the book has fascinated him as he was drawn to Smith's life journey as a young adult. He said that the book serves as an inspiring story of friendship, love, and endurance that led him to believe that if put into the screen, will yield a successful amount of popularity and awe the audience.

According to Flavor Wire, the book is actually a memoir of Smith, telling a story of how she was able to spend her time in New York City with Robert Mapplethorpe.

The mini-series is going to be produced and written by Patti Smith herself with the assistance of John Logan, the showrunner for Showtime's other successful Victorian horror series entitled "Penny Dreadful".

The mini-series is expected to enthrall the audience and get to know Smith in a deeper perspective, other than her musical personality. Furthermore, due to the show's unorthodox presentation, the audience will be able to make their own versions of it and relate to their own experiences.
