Moto X Play has been revealed to be an exclusive product of Verizon and will be called Motorola DROID Maxx 2.
Motorola's third generation device, Moto X Play, has become popular for featuring almost 48 hours of battery life, and other highly-acclaimed specs. Fortunately for Verizon subscribers in the U.S., the new gadget will be available exclusively for them. The handset will also undergo rebranding and will be released as the Motorola DROID Maxx 2, Phandroid reported.
Moto X Play was first announced by Motorola alongside the Moto G and Moto X Style last July. However, it was not immediately made available in the United States, disappointing many U.S. consumers. But the device, under its new name, Motorola DROID Maxx 2, is slated to be launched exclusively on Verizon later this year. It is expected to cost approximately $300 off-contract, comparable to the Moto X Play.
Moto X Play features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, internal storage options of 16GB and 32GB, 2GB of RAM, a 5MP front camera and 21MP rear camera, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, and a 3,650mAh battery, Motorola enumerated. It is believed that Verizon may change or add a few specs on the DROID Maxx 2 to follow its own taste.
According to reports, Verizon is also getting ready to unveil the Motorola DROID Turbo 2, which is believed to be created after the Moto X Style. It may well be a carrier version of the Moto X Style since the device is only available through Motorola's Moto Maker online, for consumers living in the United States.
A leak that came out late in July suggests that DROID Turbo 2 will feature a metal frame. According to Phandroid, it could also include a POLED display, which is more resistant to breakage since it uses thinner plastic panels instead of the glass panels used for OLED displays.
The price for DROID Turbo 2 is expected to be in line with the original DROID Turbo, which is about $600 off-contract.
