"Outlander" Season 2 will see the return of Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall and Tobias Menzies as both Frank and Black Jack Randall. While a release date for the sophomore season of the Starz time traveler series is still unknown, several casting updates about fan favorite characters have been revealed.
In a report on E! News, casting is already being done for Jamie and Claire's daughter, Brianna. While this is probably one of the most-awaited update in the series (aside from the announcement of the release date), the news came in with a couple of surprises.
First, Brianna's last name is Randall. Second, Brianna will traveling back in time "to find the father she never met and the family she never knew." The outlet noted that the second big reveal about Brianna came as a more shocking information, as this scene does not take place until Gabaldon's fourth book, "Drums of Autumn."
Does this mean fans will get to see a crossover between the second and fourth books? It looks like it. While the show has yet to find its actress to play the role, Sam Heughan recently beat food critic James Morton in another round of Radio Times TV Champion of Champions, reported Daily Record.
The 35-year-old Scottish actor recently won as Radio Times' Sci-Fi Champion against "Doctor Who" actor Peter Capaldi, "The 100" star Eliza Taylor-Cotter and "Once Upon A Time" stars Lana Parrilla and Colin O'Donoghue.
