Apple will hold an event Tuesday in San Jose, California, to unveil a smaller and cheaper version for the iPad, known as the iPad Mini.
" We've got a little more to show you. Please join us for an invitation-only event at the California Theater in San Jose on October 23 at 10:00 a.m.," Apple stated in an email to members of the press.
Apple took the same steps when they unveiled the iPhone 5 to the media, but what makes this announcement different from that one is the little hints they give.
The graphic design that was sent along with Tuesday's email had a colorful rainbow design which could be a hint as well as the word "little."
Many reports have suggested that the company will reveal a 7- or 8-inch version of the popular tablet, which currently has a 10-inch screen.
Apple has yet to confirm these rumors about the iPad Mini. Other rumors about the tablet are that it will not have the high-definition "retina display" like the current one, but it is a lot cheaper. Experts in the tech media believe the iPad Mini will be priced under $300.
Additional reports say Apple will also introduce other new products at the event; a 13-inch MacBook Pro with "retina display" and an upgraded Mac Mini.
The iPad Mini is expected to compete with other tablets such as the Microsof surface, Amazon's Kindle Fire and Google's Nexus 7.
