"Gotham" Season 2 spoilers put its spotlight on how different the incoming season would be from the previous run. The next installment is said to delve on the backstory of Joker aside from early mentioned plot that focuses on the rise of the villains. But the transition of Bruce Wayne has been kept under wraps.
HNGN reports that "Gotham" Season 2 will be entirely different from season 1. Coming from the mouth of the producer himself, Danny Cannon says that they are creating a saga in season 2, thus it will be split into 2 pieces. The showrunner and his team are becoming ambitious this year. Perhaps the strong motivation this time is because the show wants to surpass the fair solid ratings that season 1 has received.
It has been reported that the show has gotten "mix reviews and lukewarm responses from a number of critics." One flaw that has been identified is the "emphasis on one-off villains instead of long-term story building." Obviously, Cannon has acted on it and is now concentrating on "more long-form plot lines that will better connect with one another in season two."
The showrunner promises that the 22 episodes would no longer be individual stories. Everything is woven into one story. "it's a lot harder to break because we want to organically weave in a lot of origin stories into this one main story. It's very complex," Danny said. He believes that this new direction will do better for the show.
The producer has explained further that for Batman to be needed in Gotham, Gordon has to lose his control over the city. So the rise of the villains will create that environment that has gone out of control. Cannon hints spoilers of the "Gotham" season 2 telling that the show will unleash a villain that who would try to "outshine, outplay, and out-maneuver" other villains. So fans could expect that the competition is not with the police but among villains.
Following the statement of Danny Cannon, fans could infer that he might be referring to Jerome Valeska aka Joker. He is one of the best contender to be the super villain who could wreck havoc in Gotham City. Vine Report says that the next season will delve the origin of Joker at the same time the connections of the villains to Valeska.
As for Batman, Screen Rant has released a video teaser of the evolution of Bruce Wayne. It seems that Fox is giving a lot of promise for the second season of "Gotham." It is indeed a good news to Batman fans since the show has worked out on what to do with the character of young master Wayne.
"Gotham" season 2 returns on Sept. 21.
