The MTV Video Music Awards is always a big affair. And for 2015, it couldn't be any bigger when opening act Nicki Minaj decided to end her feud with Taylor Swift by asking her to join her on stage.
There were impressive performances from The Weeknd, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The Guardian reported that Demi Lovato performed in the outdoor stage with a cameo by Iggy Azalea. Other highlights include Kanye West's announcement that he will run for president in 2020 and Miley Cyrus, who hosted the event, announced that she will be releasing her new album for free. Minaj also called out Cyrus about her comments to the media about the "Super Bass" singer. The 2015 VMA host gave the standard "media got it wrong" answer.
Time described the ceremony as being overshadowed by the spat between Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj which reportedly started from comments made on social media about the top nominees for the VMAs. But the biggest star of the night belonged to Miley who aced expectations on her hosting skills.
