Apple Watch may be climbing to the top, but Samsung Gear S2 may turn out to be a tough competitor. Here is how the two smartwatches are being compared.
Apple Watch has a rectangular body and comes in two sizes, a 42mm version and a smaller 38mm version. There are three lines to choose from: the Apple Watch Sport with an aluminum body, the Apple Watch with a stainless steel body, and the expensive Apple Watch Edition made of solid gold. Apple watch comes in silver, black, yellow gold, gray, steel and rose gold. It only has a rating of IPX7, so it cannot be immersed in water, Live Science reported.
Samsung Gear S2 has a round body with two versions: Gear S2 with a sporty look and Gear S2 Classic. The cases are made from stainless steel and they come in silver and dark gray. The Gear S2 Classic comes in black, paired with a black leather band. It has a rating of IP68 and can be immersed for 30 minutes in 1.5 meters of water. A rotating bezel can be used to navigate between apps and to zoom into objects on the screen.
Apple Watch has a 1.32-inch AMOLED display with 272 x 340 pixels of resolution and density of 290 pixels per inch. The bigger version has a 1.5-inch display with 312 x 390 pixels of resolution and a density of 302 pixels per inch. Gear S2 has a density of 302 pixels per inch and full circle 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels.
Samsung Gear S1 system chip is found in Apple Watch with 8GB of storage, but only 2GB is available to users. Gear S2 comes with an Exynos processor and a CPU with two cores clocked at 1.0 GHz, with 4GB of onboard storage and 512MB of RAM, IBTimes reported.
Samsung Gear S2 will have a starting price of $350. The lowest priced Apple Watch costs $350, but it can go as high as $17,000.
