'Fallout 4' Features Update: Dogmeat is a Representation of a Real-Life Pet, River; Immortal, but Feels Pain

"Fallout 4" design team reveals what inspired them to make Dogmeat, the latest feature.

"Fallout 4's" most prominent latest feature is without a doubt, Dogmeat, the player's companion. The company shared lately that the dog companion was basically inspired by River, a real-life canine which is the real-life dog companion of Joel Burgess, the head of level design team, Polygon reported.

"Fallout 4" game director Todd Howard, said in an official website post that he used Burgess' real-life dog as the inspiration for the role of the companion in the production period of Dogmeat. "If we're going to use a dog, we must do this right," he added.

Burgess' dog, River, is said to be a constant visitor at the office of Bethesda, and because they are doing a companion dog for the said game, it's more logical to use a real dog to have the one in the game appear more realistic. For the eager and curious fans of the "Fallout 4," here are the behind the scenes rushes of River or Dogmeat from Bethesda's official YouTube channel.

"He can get seriously hurt, so he must go down and be disabled during a fight, and he can get run over and [jammed] with a stimpack, and then he will get up," Howard said in the interview for the event through PC Gamer. Watch Howard as he talks about Dogmeat from the official YouTube channel of the company.

"Fallout 4" is scheduled to hit the consoles of the next-Gen, mostly the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and will also be launched on the PC platform on Nov. 10. The game features a nearly immortal companion called Dogmeat. As told by Howard in an interview by the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Dogmeat is immortal, but he can still get hurt and may also pull out of the battle when severely injured.
