One of "Outlander's" most interesting storylines is that of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) love story, which is based on Diana Gabaldon's book series. Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine, Balfe spoke about Claire and Jamie's story and what drew her character to him.
Balfe revealed that it was not a typical love-at-first-sight kind of love story for Claire and Jamie; rather, it was more on Claire's bond as a nurse to a patient. Showrunner Ron Moore also backed up Balfe's statements and said that when Claire time traveled to the 18th century, she was not really looking for love, as she was already married to Frank (Tobias Menzies).
"She's not here to have any kind of relationship with anybody, much less this young man," he said.
Moore, however, revealed that Claire and Jamie are aware that they both share a "spark" or attraction for each other. Balfe also added that Claire's feelings for Jamie grew, as they both found time to get to know each other better.
Balfe revealed that it was Jamie's timelessness, which ultimately drew Claire to him.
"Even though he's a man of that time, there is something timeless about him and there's something modern - his willingness to change his viewpoint or learn or be open to new ideas," she shared.
Meanwhile, "Outlander" Season 2 is still short of two characters - Brianna and Roger. According to Vine Report, there is growing clamor among fans and viewers that "Game of Thrones" actress Sophie Turner will be playing the role of Brianna.
The outlet cited that fans were excited after Heughan re-tweeted a message, which seemingly hints on Turner's appearance in "Outlander" Season 2. However, Moore has previously answered that no one has been cast for the role yet.
"Outlander" Season 2 premieres in 2016 on Starz.
