"Castle" Season 8 recently shocked the audience with what seemed like a breakup between its two lead characters, Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). While the new showrunners of the ABC police procedural drama have assured fans that the breakup isn't for good, many fans started wondering how will these two get back together. Will Castle try to win Beckett back?

"Castle" Season 8 Episode 3 titled, "PhDead" ultimately showed the surprising breakup between fan-favorite couple, "Caskett," short for Castle and Beckett. While some fans took it as a sign that the married couple are headed for divorce, showrunner Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter told EW that Beckett had a good reason for breaking up with Castle.
Speaking to the outlet, Hawley admitted that they wanted to shake things up this season for the fan-favorite couple, especially because they wanted "Castle" to give off a realistic look and feel.
"For us, their love affair is the heart of the show and relationships have issues, so we didn't want to do a one-dimensional, everybody's-happy-all-the-time kind of thing," Hawley said.
Hawley added that Beckett's reason for breakup was done out of love and was a result of her obsession over her mother's murder. Carter Matt also noted on how the two lead characters will soon find their way back to each other's arms.
According to the outlet, while Castle is being kept in the dark about Beckett's secret missions, their personalities may somehow help each other find a solution to their problem. The outlet noted that Beckett has a tendency to shut people out when she's focused while Castle is a bit more relaxed. This can be a sign that Beckett may ultimately feel that she cannot solve her issues alone and eventually ask for Castle's help.
Meanwhile, the showrunner also revealed that Hayley will be returning in Episode 5 and will be teaming up with Beckett, and not Castle. Stephnie Weir will also be making a guest appearance in this episode.
