Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update: Moto X Style (2015), Moto X Play (2015) and More to Receive Marshmallow Upgrade 'in Coming Weeks'

News about the Nexus flagships getting the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade has be released late last month, according to a report by Ecumenical News. Weeks after the said report, HTC announced that they too will be releasing the upgrade to their devices in near future. At this moment, Motorola has unveiled that their phones will be receiving the Android Marshmallow update and the fans can hold on to their seats in the weeks for further details.

According to the Motorola's official blog site, they announced that they do have plans on upgrading a number of units to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. In the same blog post from Motorola, they listed the following smartphones that will be able to upgrade to Marshmallow.

Listed are the devices qualified for the update:

  • 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Style (3rd gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Play
  • 2015 Moto G (3rd gen)
  • 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (2nd gen)
  • 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia2 (2nd gen)
  • 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE2 (2nd gen)
  • DROID Turbo
  • 2014 Moto MAXX
  • 2014 Moto Turbo
  • Nexus 6

In the official post by Motorola, the company noted that there might be some changes in the future. For the fans to keep up with these changes and the get the latest info about the Marshmallow update, they may refer to Motorola's Country Selector page.

There is still no specific date when they Motorola phones will receive the update, though in the announcement they released, it suggest that it may arrive in the coming weeks.

"As for timing, we have high standards, so we'll work fast but we won't push the upgrades out until we know they're ready. Look for more news on timing in the coming weeks," Motorola stated.

The company also assured the fans that they are doing their best to release the upgrade as soon and smoothly as possible.
