For those who want to head to the Xbox store or Amazon to preorder Call of Duty: Black Ops III for Xbox One, there is bad news. Strangely, the said digital version of the much awaited shooter game has been removed.
Rest assured, Microsoft says that it is only temporary while Activision claims they had nothing to do with it. According to GameSpot, both parties acknowledge that the game was remove but neither explained why and neither could tell when the game would return.
A representative from Microsoft said in a statement via Polygon, "Yes, the Call of Duty: Black Ops III pre-order offers have been temporarily removed from the Xbox Store, however we are actively engaged with Activision to return it as soon as possible. In the meantime, fans can pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops III for Xbox One or Xbox 360 from any of a host of retail partners here. If you've pre-ordered the game from the Xbox Store already you will receive it when it launches on November 6."
According to Polygon, when Microsoft was asked to give more details, the response was, "We do not comment on the specific terms of our arrangements with any of our publishing partners, however we are actively engaged with Activision to return Call of Duty: Black Ops III to the Xbox Store. In the meantime, fans can pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops III for Xbox One or Xbox 360 from any of a host of retail partners here."
On the other hand, the publisher Activision, has confirmed that they did not pull the game off. In a statement a representative said via Polygon, "Activision did not remove the digital version of Call of Duty: Black Ops III from the Xbox Games Store. Black Ops III is ready for launch on November 6th and is the most anticipated game of the year. Black Ops III is available for pre-order or pre-purchase through our other retail partners worldwide."
It has been reported that Activision and Sony had formed an exclusive partnership early this year. According to Polygon, Sony had declared during 2015 E3 that PlayStation is "the new home of Call of Duty." The Xbox fans certainly hope this has nothing to do with what is currently happening.
