'Young Black Jack' Episode 2 Review-Roundup: Lackluster Storytelling

"Young Black Jack" episode has been streamed at Crunchyroll for its subscribers, but the anime series could be viewed again by everyone on Oct. 16.

News Hub reports that episode 2 of "Young Black Jack" is entitled "Abduction." The storyline revolves on Hazama being abducted. As he wakes up, he finds himself being chained already. Also, he is expected to perform a complex surgery. Should he refuse to do so, it would mean his death.

"Young Black Jack" episode 2 also reveals that Hazama puts himself in that difficult situation because he owes Tourou Tachiiri by failing to save someone. Tachiiri, then, has orchestrated the abduction of Hazama. It certainly "sucks more to be a doctor indebted to the mafia though Hazama has skills that prove crucial in slowly clearing away debt."

Otakuness states with 2 episodes being broadcasted already, it seems like "Young Black Jack lies a whole hoard of stupidity." It is understood as a prequel of Osamu Tezuka's original "Black Jack," and it is supposed to explain how Hazama becomes who he is at present.

"Young Black Jack" tells the story of Hazama back in his medical student days. But after the 2nd episode, it looks like the story is "about how the main-chara almost didn't become Black Jack." Aside from its incoherent storyline and bad narrative, it is also noted that both episodes have "jarring dialogues" and poor scenes.

Another thing that a viewer would no fail to notice is that supposed-to-be a drug-addict person who never looks like one at all. Aside from this annoying character, viewer would also feel that episode 2 of "Young Black Jack" is overstuffed with a lot of subplots, and then fail to maximize the story. For example, Hazama having a debt- there is more to this story but it has not been maximize. Then, there's this guy who needs a heart donor, chooses Hazama and another man who wants to be chosen because he needs the money for his daughter who has leukemia.

Overall, "Young Black Jack" episode is fair. It is hard to say that the next episodes would become better. For the past 2 episodes, the script is below par and the storytelling is dull.

How about you? What can you say of the second episode of "Young Black Jack?"
