'Super Smash Bros 4' Release Update: 'Shovel Knight Amiibo' Not Compatible; DLC Uncertain; Isaac, Wolf Additional Characters?

"Super Smash Bros 4" fans were frustrated when the news about the "Shovel Knight" came out. The said character is not included on the list of playable characters in the game and the rumored DLC.

"Shovel Knight" creator Yacht Club Games, has already issued a statement to clarify things with regards to their character's inclusion. The developer said that the listing was a misunderstanding and that the "Shovel Knight Amiibo" will not be compatible with the game, thus rendering it unplayable.

"Appreciate the enthusiasm for the idea, but I believe this listing was made in error," the company said on their official Twitter account.

"Shovel Knight" has a big following, which created excitement for the fans when rumors started spreading. According to rumors, it will be included in the roster of playable characters in "Super Smash Bros 4." There were even reports that a potential DLC for the game is in the works and it might include the "Shovel Knight."

Meanwhile, Regulus Tera, a NeoGAF forum user, has posted a recent finding on the patch data from the "Super Smash Bros 4" and found additional Marios on the data. This finding was also confirmed by another user, Neoxon, which later explained that the additional Marios are actually placeholders for an additional three or more characters, as can be seen in the Neogaf forum.

"Super Smash Bros 4" fans speculated that the "Shovel Knight" might be one of these three. After the not so good news, "Isaac" and "Wolf" were also thought to be included. However, speculation shifted to "Splatoon" characters, another Nintendo bestseller, as possible candidates of the game.

Currently, not a word can be heard from Nintendo or from the developers of the characters. Fans just need to be patient until some official announcement arrives.

"Super Smash Bros 4" supposed DLC, on the other hand, is currently at the speculation stage.
