The Los Angeles Lakers is saying goodbye to Michael Frazier II and Robert Upshaw.
Los Angeles Lakers is targeting a 15-man team for the NBA's 2015-2016 season. In line with this goal, the Lakers management has announced in its press release made on Tuesday, that center Robert Upshaw and shooting guard Michael Frazier II will be taken out of the current roster.
LA Lakers' Robert Upshaw is an undrafted rookie. The Lakers took notice of the 21 -year old Upshaw from University of Washington and went on to the team's training camp. By Sept. 14, the rookie signed with the Lakers team, played in four preseason games and showed a great performance, according to the official website of the NBA.
Michael Frazier II, also an undrafted rookie from the University of Florida, failed to spot as a center's backup for Tarik Black or Robert Sacre. Frazer signed with the team on Aug. 25 and also played in four preseason games.
During Frazer's short stint, he averaged 2.0 points, 0.8 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game while Upshaw averaged 2.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, as well as 0.75 blocks all in 14.1 minutes per game.
LA Lakers fans, many of them were in for a shock when the team's General Manager Mitch Kupchak, announced that they have waived both players, which puts the total players down to 17. It also means that two more players need to go before the season opener on Oct. 28. Upshaw and Frazier may be included in the team's D-League affiliates, as Coach Byron Scott said Yahoo! Sports reported.
