Finally, after months on the rumor mill, the HTC One A9 was unveiled to the public on Oct. 20. HTC launched its flagship phone during its media day dubbed as "Be Brilliant" which was held in New York and, in fact, the One A9 looks like an iPhone.
The Taiwanese smartphone maker wants to challenge Apple with their new One A9. It is relatively cheaper, at $399, and has a metal body. HTC seems to be conveying a message, that they are creating phones with metal body even before Apple. Another distinct similarity is its antenna lines, which is similar in position with the iPhone 6s, according to a report by Wired.
Additionally, the metal body of the HTC One A9 has its antenna lines placed in an almost identical position to that of the iPhone 6s. However, the camera is located at a different area, in the middle, instead of the side.
The HTC One A9 is a 5.0 inch 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution display and comes with a 441 pixels per inch density. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 405 GPU for an added punch and backed by a 2GB RAM for the 16GB on-board storage variant. A 3GB RAM comes with the 32GB storage model, the report continued.
Furthermore, a 13-MP rear-facing camera and HTC's UltraPixel sensor on the front are also loaded on the phone. It will also be available in four colors, namely: Topaz Gold, Opal Silver, Deep Garnet and Carbon Gray.
An HTC protection plan will also come with the unit, that if it gets damaged, a replacement is guaranteed or if the user wants to shift to another carrier. Plus, as an added bonus, HTC is also throwing in a free 6 months' worth of subscription to Google Play Music.
