Manny Pacquiao's next and final opponent has not been revealed yet, but a scheduled match has already been made. Bob Arum is confident that the people's champ will be focusing more on his political aspirations after his final bout.
Amir Khan of Britain, who had 57 wins out of 65 fights, was mentioned by Arum as among the choices who may go up against Pacquiao. Terence Crawford, a WBO champion, was also considered although this may need some moving back to a super-lightweight division.
Arum told ESPN that the April 9 match is going to be Pacquiao's final bout.
Philippine Congressman Pacquiao feels that following the National Elections in May, if elected, he may not be able to join boxing because of the need to give more attention to the senate work and on his attendance, Arum shared.
A senate seat demands a lot of time and real work, and if Manny is really serious on his dream of becoming the president someday, the senate will be a good start to prove to the people that he is indeed a serious politician.
Pacquiao has never been seen in the ring after being defeated by Floyd Mayweather last May, which result was decided over unanimous points. This was among the three losses in Pacquiao's last six bouts, Sky Sports reported.
"Top Rank's" Arum also denied being sad over this confirmation from Pacquiao. According to him, he knows that public service will demand a lot of mental profoundness so it is quite reasonable if he doesn't stay long in boxing.
Meanwhile, 28 year old Khan shared with Sky Sports that he really wanted to go up against Pacquiao in order to have a chance to be in the ring with Mayweather. Khan's camp has already pulled out from the negotiation.
