Promos for "Once Upon a Time" Season 5, Episode 6, titled "The Bear and the Arrow" reveal that Mr. Gold will have to overcome his greatest fear or remain like his old pre-Storybrooke days as a weakling.
Picking up from where episode 5, "Dreamcatcher," left off, Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) continues an unsolicited training courtesy of Merida (Amy Manson). She has been tasked by The Dark Swan/Emma (Jennifer Morrison) to create a hero out of Mr. Gold.
In episode 6, as seen in the promotional video shared by Comic Book Movie, Emma places the life of Belle (Emilie de Ravin) in danger in the hopes that this would wake Gold's inner hero. The Dark Swan commands Merida, who is still under her spell as she has her heart, to kill Gold's one true love. Will Gold finally muster his courage or lose the one he loves?
Still on the upcoming episode, David, Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin), and Regina (Lana Parrilla), who are in Storybrooke, uncover a spell that would let Merlin communicate with one of his chosen men. However, they feel doubtful when Arthur isn't able to get hold of the missing sorcerer.
Meanwhile, "The Bear and the Arrow" synopsis has recently been released. The summary reveals a Camelot flashback with Merida in it. She has a chance meeting with Belle, Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), David (Josh Dallas) and Merlin (Elliot Knight). The accidental encounter gives her courage to face the DunBroch clan to rescue his brothers.
This episode 6 flashback is a teaser for the Nov. 15th episode, which creators originally planned to be two hours long. Viewers will be seeing more of Merida and his family. The actors who would play her parents have just been cast, as per Entertainment Weekly . Caroline Morahan will play Queen Elinor and Glenn Keogh of "Sons of Anarchy" is set to play King Fergus.
The said November episode will also feature Merida, Ruby/Red (Meghan Ory), and Mulan (Jamie Chung) on an adventure together.
