Selena Gomez Wins Billboard Chart Topper Award; Pop Star's '13 Reasons Why' TV Project Gets Netflix's Straight-to-Series Order

Selena Gomez is set to receive the Billboard Chart Topper Award for 2015 and is set to executive produce a new Netflix series based on a bestselling young adult novel.

The 23-year-old singer will be honored in the coming Billboard's Women in Music 2015, as reported by Billboard. Gomez's series of number one hits has earned her Billboard's Chart Topper Award for 2015. The award was presented to Australian artist Iggy Azalea in 2014.

Gomez's 2015 album titled "Revival" went straight to the top spot at the Billboard 200 charts in October. This is only her second album that hit number one; the first was "Stars Dance" released two years ago. The "Same Old Love" singer has sold more than 22 million single sales worldwide so far.

The single "Good For You" from her album "Revival" became number one at Top 40 Radio for three weeks straight. The single is also dubbed as her fastest selling platinum in history.

Meanwhile, recent reports revealed that Gomez's TV project, "13 Reasons Why" has received a straight-to-series order from Netflix. "13 Reasons Why" is an adaptation of a bestselling young adult novel of the same name written by Jay Asher. The pop star does not appear on the series but serves as its executive producer. She will also not be seen on screen in the upcoming Netflix series, according to Deadline.

The creator of the series is Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Yorkey. He will also be writing the pilot for the show.

Aside from singing and taking on an upcoming Netflix series, the "Do It" songstress is also busy doing movies. Gomez has recently just finished shooting four films: "Big Short" with Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Christian Bale; James Franco's "In Dubious Battle"; "Neighbors 2" by Seth Rogen; and "The Revise Fundamentals of Caregiving" co-starring Paul Rudd.

With all her current and upcoming projects, Gomez is expected to keep a busy schedule in the coming months.
