The Young & The Restless Cast & Spoilers: Burgess Jenkins Leaving Billy Abbott Role, Jason Thompson To Take Over?

"The Young and the Restless" is reportedly letting go of Burgess Jenkins and Jason Thompson of "General Hospital" is rumored to replace him.

According to Daytime Confidential, "Burgess Jenkins has been given his walking papers" and the daytime soap is recasting again for Billy Abbott. While it has not been confirmed, Jason Thompson is speculated to join Y&R and replace Jenkins.

Jenkins joined the CBS soap in mid-2014 as a recast after David Tom couldn't pull off the character. Tom replaced Billy Miller four months earlier. But according to Celeb Dirty Laundry, "The Young and the Restless" fans don't seem to be over Billy Miller and they fail to embrace Jenkins as Billy Abbott. Fans reportedly are still hoping the soap would bring Miller back. They don't feel Burgess is fit for the role despite his good acting skills.

Unfortunately, Miller returning to "The Young and the Restless" is farfetched for now. Aside from playing Jason Morgan in "General Hospital," he has been casted for FOX's primetime pilot "Urban Cowboy."

CDL also reported that according to CBS Soaps In Depth, Burgess decided to leave to pursue other opportunities. He is no longer enjoying acting and that he'd rather "work in the production team than acting any day of the week."

Meanwhile, Jason Thompson has officially confirmed that he is exiting "General Hospital," strengthening the rumors that he is joining Y&R as Billy Abbott which started last week. He posted on Instagram a statement which says, "I have made the difficult decision to bid farewell to a character I've loved playing for over 10 years. It was not an easy decision but I feel like it's time to hang up Dr. Drake's white coat and scrubs." He added, "General Hospital changed my life and I have you to thank for that."
