‘The Librarians’ Gets a Book Spinoff: ‘The Librarians and the Lost Lamp’

TNT's "The Librarians" series is going to have a novel spin-off titled "The Librarians and the Lost Lamp," coming in October 2016, publisher Tor Books has announced.

The all-new "The Librarians" adventure will be about the search for Aladdin's lamp, which will be written by Greg Cox, a New York Times best-selling author. Cox penned official movie novelizations of films such as "Man of Steel," "The Dark Knight Rises," and "Daredevil."

"The Librarians and the Lost Lamp" will be split into two parts, according to Tor Books. One part is about the past which will focus on Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle in the film) and the other part in the future, where new Librarians look into a mysterious, legendary artifact - Aladdin's lamp.

The synopsis from Tor Books reads, "Ten years ago, Flynn was the only living Librarian. When the ancient criminal organization known as the Forty steals the oldest known copy of The Arabian Nights by Scheherazade, Flynn is called in to investigate. Fearing that the Forty is after Aladdin's fabled Lamp, Flynn must race to find it before the Lamp's powerful and malevolent djinn is unleashed upon the world. Now, a new team of inexperienced Librarians, along with Eve Baird, their tough-as-nails Guardian, is investigating an uncanny mystery in Las Vegas when the quest for the Lamp begins anew. The fate of the world hangs in the balance."

Meanwhile, "The Librarians" Season 2 premiered last Sunday on TNT, with back-to-back episodes - Episode 1 "And the Drowned Book" and Episode 2 "And the Broken Staff." The show is created by John Rogers produced by Electric Entertainment. The TV series stars Rebecca Romijn (Eve Baird), Christian Kane (Jake Stone), Lindy Booth (Cassandra Cillian), John Kim (Ezekiel Jones) and John Larroquette (Jenkins).

The first season is one of the highest-rated series in 2014 and had an average of 11.4 million viewers.
