Rumors that Ronda Rousey would get into boxing have surfaced yet again, thanks to her recent Ring Magazine cover deal and Oscar De La Hoya's latest declaration that he would like to handle the UFC champ's boxing career.
The UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion will grace the cover of De La Hoya's Ring Magazine for its January 2016 issue. This is the first time that the prestigious boxing magazine picked an MMA fighter to be featured on its cover, Fox Sports said.
According to the retired boxing champ, The Rowdy One has brought more attention to his magazine after scoring the cover deal. Now De La Hoya is bent on encouraging Rousey to get into boxing, saying the MMA artist has what it takes to be successful in pro boxing.
In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, the former six-class boxing champ praised Ronda Rousey, saying she is tough and really good, and possesses important qualities as speed, power and instinct.
"She dares to be great," De La Hoya added. "That's the difference with a lot of fighters. She takes the risks, and that's what I love about her."
De La Hoya also revealed that he has already discussed it with Rousey. He said if the UFC bantamweight queen decides to step into the ring as a boxer, his company Golden Boy Promotions will be there for support.
Still, it is not clear yet if Rousey will actually step into the boxing ring. According to the MMA Fighting site, all of the recent rumors and reports might be related to her upcoming fight against Holly Holm, a former three-division boxing champion.
"Ronda can box," Rousey's coach Edmond Tarverdyan said. He added that Ronda's both hands are capable of knocking her opponent. She proved it in her last fight against Beth Correia, whom she knocked out with a single right hand to her temple. In her earlier career, Ronda was known for finishing her opponent with her signature arm bar, which she used only once in her last four fights.
