"Rizzoli & Isles" Season 6 aired its midseason finale last September with a cliffhanger, which ultimately left many fans wondering if Dr. Maura Isles will make it out alive. While the events that will take place following this kidnapping incident will unfold when the second half of the season returns in 2016, will fans and viewers be finally able to see romance take place between Jane and Maura?

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Read on if you want to learn more about the details of this story.

"Rizzoli & Isles" centers around two women, Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), as they take on different cases in Boston. Jane and Maura have been through thick and thin and they have exemplified one of the best stories of friendship in the TNT series.

While "Rizzoli and Isles" is pretty much a crime drama with a mix of witty lines and fashion (mostly from Maura), will the show finally feature romance between its two lead characters - Jane and Maura? According to Carter Matt, several fans have been rooting for a relationship to take place between Jane and Maura for quite some time now, but further noted that the show is highly unlikely to feature this anytime soon.

The outlet also conducted a poll at the end of its article after discussing several points as to why a Jane and Maura romance should and should not happen at all. As of writing, 89.47 per cent of readers wanted to see Jane and Maura take their relationship to the next level while 10.53 per cent voted no.

Meanwhile, "Rizzoli & Isles" Season 6B is expected to premiere on Feb. 2016, although TNT has yet to announce the show's official release date, another report from Carter Matt noted. The second half of the season is also expected to feature the events that will take place after Maura was held captive in the midseason finale.
