Syfy zombie drama series "Z Nation" has been renewed for the third season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Syfy said that the series will return with 15 new episodes for Season 3, which is expected to premiere in 2016. The news was announced while "Z Nation" is still currently airing its second season.
"Z Nation" follows the aftermath of a deadly zombie virus. In a post-apocalyptic timeline, a group of individuals are on a mission to accompany Citizen Z, the last-known survivor across America. They need to bring that person to the last viral lab in order to find the cure for the virus, which spread in the country three years ago.
The outlet reported that the series currently garners an average of 1.5 million viewers. It is also said that "Z Nation" has a huge following on various social media sites.
Showrunner and executive producer Karl Schaefer ("Eureka") developed the series with the help of the production company, The Asylum. It stars Kellita Smith as Roberta Warren ("The Bernie Mac Show"), DJ Qualls as Citizen Z ("Supernatural"), Keith Allan as Murphy ("Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23"), Anastasia Baranova as Addy Carver ("90210"), Matt Cedeño as Vasquez ("Devious Maids"), Russell Hodgkinson as Doc and Nat Zang as 10K.
"Z Nation" is the latest Syfy series that has been renewed along with "12 Monkeys," "Bitten," "Dark Matter," "Olympus" and "Killjoys." On the other hand, "Defiance" (Season 3) and "Dominion" (Season 2) were both cancelled after their respective seasons.
According to the synopsis posted on SyFy. "Z Nation" Season 2 Episode 21 "RoZwell" (air date: Nov. 6) kicks off as the team arrived at Roswell, New Mexico. A mysterious space being appeared to lead them in finding zombie aliens.
"Z Nation" Season 2 airs every Friday on Syfy and Space at 10 p.m.
