'Diablo 3' 2.4 Patch Details: New Zone, Set Items, and Expanded Areas

"Diablo 3" is set to release update 2.4, which will add a new zone, expanded areas, new set dungeons, and other features.

The Escapist reported that the patch was detailed during the Blizzcon event last Saturday, Nov. 7. Dubbed as its biggest update to date, Blizzard announced that the update will include at least two new areas, one new zone, 16 new monsters, and over 175 new bounties, among other cool new features. These additions will be split between acts 3, 4 and 5.

Diablog, the official "Diablo" blog, details these new features. The headlining new zone is called Greyhollow Island, described as a "mysterious forested locale is steeped in intrigue."

The sanctuary will also be expanded with two new areas, namely: The Eternal Woods and Royal Quarters.

"We know already what lies beyond the gates of the Ruins of Sescheron, but what's the land like before it?" the blog teased. "Take a look over your shoulder and wander the Eternal Woods, an undead-infested boreal forest featuring new events and bounties."

Meanwhile, the Royal Quarters, buried under the rubble of Leoric's Manor, will be open for adventure seekers. It is described as the land of the Skeleton King when he was alive.

Another major feature are the new set dungeons, which are said to be designed around the gamer's ability. There will be a total of 24 dungeons hidden in the Sanctuary. By entering it, the gamer will be faced with a series of timed challenges, with according rewards. Beating all the 24 challenges will unlock cosmetic wings.

Apart from these, some 50 new legendary items will be added, as well as 10 new set items. The player's stash will also be doubled.

"Patch 2.4.0 is a monstrous patch, packed to the brim with not only features we've seen requests for, but our own love letters to a game we have poured our hearts into and love dearly," Blizzard stated on the blog. "We're so eager to share all of this and more with you that we are aiming to launch the Patch 2.4.0 PTR in the weeks following BlizzCon so you can dive in and provide your feedback on all these new features."

No official release date has been announced, but Blizzard stated that Patch 2.4 will hit the Public Test Server within the week.
