The future of "Person of Interest" is up in the air, as several reports claim that the series is on its fifth and last season on CBS. While "Person of Interest" Season 5 has yet to premiere in 2016, will another station pick up the series for Season 6?
"Person of Interest" Season 5 is expected to be the show's "most dramatic and most intense season" yet, producer Chris Fisher said during the New York Comic Con, according to Comic Book Resources. While the interview with the cast and crew revealed several interesting details about the show's upcoming season, they also brushed up on the possibility that Season 5 will also be the show's last on TV.
"We have done things that no one else has done," Jim Caviezel said.
"I'm not sure how these decisions get made. It's entirely possible that this is the last 13 episodes on CBS, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that it could go to another broadcaster," Michael Emerson added in response to this rumor.
The actor, however, admitted that it would be hard to find a network willing to pick up the series for another season because "it's a very expensive show." Meanwhile, several fans have already started petitioning for the series.
A petition was raised on Change.org, which calls for the attention of CBS to renew the show for Season 6 or for Netflix, Warner Brothers, NBC or FOX to pick up the series for another season.
"Person of Interest is one of the most unique shows on TV today. It has built a large fan base that reaches from America to China to Turkey and everywhere in between," the petition reads.
The petition also calls on other networks to renew "Person of Interest" "even if it's just for one more season." 14,716 have already signed the petition as of writing and only 284 are needed to reach 15,000 supporters.
