The Nexus 6P is described by many as the best Android smartphone since it was first announced a month ago. The Huawei manufactured device, however, seems to be having issues with its protruding rear glass panel breaking without any obvious reason.
The complaints about the cracked glass panel first hit a number of online forums, which were eventually picked up by Android Police. The issue, on the other hand, was not widespread as there were only a few users who reported about the glass cracking spontaneously without the handset being dropped.
The Nexus 6P features a metal body with a unique glass back panel found on the top that covers the rear camera along with its LED flash and laser autofocus. More so, this narrow glass obviously protrudes from the back panel, which makes the device even more appealing and unique to many users. Before it was released, the unique feature was actually described as ugly by a lot of people. However, Android fans think that the feature is one of the assets of the handset that make it standout from other metal-bodied devices just like the iPhone 6.
The issue with the Next 6P is somehow associated with the protruding glass panel. A Reddit user posted on a thread online and described how he placed the handset on the table and heard the cracking sound. He found that the Gorilla Glass was broken and even left some shavings on the table. Since the glass is well-protected by Gorilla glass, many users have stressed out that it is unlikely to crack spontaneously.
However, other users also commented that Apple has faced the same problem too with regard to the rear panel of the device, which was made from glass. It ended up breaking when handset was dropped. With this issue, the user has no other way to prove that the narrow piece of glass spontaneously gets broken because the same breakage can also occur when the handset is dropped.
