UFC 193: Ronda Rousey's Knockout Defeat by Holly Holm Is the Biggest Upset in MMA 2015

It is indeed the biggest upset in UFC history. Holly Holm gave Ronda Rousey her first ever defeat in her professional mixed martial arts career.

Rousey's fans might have believed that the 28-year-old UFC champ was unbeatable. After her winning streak through weakening submissions and devastating knockouts, Rousey had got to face Holm on Nov. 15, Sunday. Their match eventually proved one thing: Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey is not indestructible.

Holm, 34, a former world boxing champion, shocked the world when she knocked out the reigning UFC Bantamweight Champion. Holm has now a clean record of 10 wins with no defeat, leaving Rousey with 12 wins and one defeat.

Rousey was already in danger after having been hit hard by Holm's left hand in the second round. She ducked and tried for a clinch, but Holm released a left head kick that sent her down on the octagon's canvas unconscious. Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight instantly to avoid further damage to Rousey. It only took Holm 59 seconds into the second round to beat her.

According to ESPN, UFC president Dana White shared that Rousey was sent to a nearby hospital after suffering a knockout in order to treat her and her facial cuts. The CT scan on her returned normal but she had to spend a night at the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Meanwhile, Lenny Fresquez told USA Today that Holly Holm's team won more than a six-figure sum after betting on their fighter. "I am sorry Vegas. You shouldn't have put the odds so high," Fresquez said.

"It was couple of our team members. We had a good pot together so it was nice. I wish I would have (placed) more money," he added.

UFC 193 set some records in MMA history. Aside from Rousey's first defeat, it was also the first UFC event held in Melbourne, Australia. It also drew 56, 214 fans, breaking the promotion's previous attendance record of 55, 724 during UFC 129 on April 30, 2011, when Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields fought a title match in Toronto.
