Just a few weeks ago, "General Hospital" star, Jason Thompson confirmed through his Instagram post that he was leaving the ABC soap. Jason is famously known for his character as Dr. Patrick Drake.
There have been talks that he might be staying until February of next year, however, it seems like Jason is set to leave in a just a matter of weeks.
According to Soap Opera Spy, Finola Hughes confirmed that Thompson's last air date will be before Christmas.
Finola revealed that Jason will no longer be seen at all starting January. She is sad about him leaving, but then, she respects Jason's decision of doing what is best for him.
It has been reported last weekend that Jason already stopped filming and he is officially out of the soap. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Thompson initially planned to stay as Dr. Drake throughout the February sweeps, but there were changes made with the recent script and he will only be part of the soap until December.
Meanwhile, there have been talks that Thompson was the number one pick for the recast of Billy Abbott in "The Young and The Restless. Last October, it was reported that Jason decided not to renew his contract with ABC and rumor has it that he is set to join Y&R.
Earlier this month, Burgess Jenkins already confirmed that he is leaving "The Young and The Restless." Burgess character as Billy was involved in a fire incident at the Newman Enterprise and got badly hurt to an extent that his doctors said that he need an extensive plastic surgery. It has been assumed that once the plastic surgery is done Thompson will take on Jenkins' role as Billy.
According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, spoilers hint that Jason will take on the role of Billy on Feb. 1, 2016 so he is set to air either late February or first week of March. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
