Motorola Moto X Pure 2015 and 2nd Gen Moto X smartphone owners must be pleased at the news that their handsets will be receiving the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will soon be arriving to selected Motorola smartphones starting with the Moto X Pure Edition. The Moto X Pure Edition was released just a few weeks prior to Google's Android 6.0 release. Some Motorola X Pure Edition owners went ballistic with this and wondered when they will receive the Marshmallow. Well, it is in the final approval process and should be arriving to U.S. owners before the end of November, Gotta BE Mobile reported.
The Moto X Pure Edition is also known as Moto X Style outside the U.S. and will also be receiving their respective updates, starting today. Brazil and India will be the first one to receive the updates via OTA (over-the-air). Additionally, 2nd Gen Moto X units will also be having their updates.
The Android OS update will bring in some noteworthy changes on its OS. Motorola Pure Edition and Style do have an almost stock Android OS. The changes include: Memory Manager, Permission Controls, Doze for battery life, Volume Controls, Do-Not-Disturb modes, Google Now on Tap, Automatic app/data backup, and many more, as stated by Motorola's David Schuster.
Other Motorola smartphones are slated to be updated to Android 6.0 as well. These include: Moto G 4G LTE (2nd Gen), Moto G (Gen 2), Droid Turbo, Moto Maxx, and Moto Turbo. Sadly, Moto E seems to lack the internal storage for the new Android OS, so it is not included.
Motorola features apps such as the Moto Assist, Moto Migrate, but the Google Chrome extension support via Motorola Connect will not be included anymore with the Android 6.0 update.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be requiring at least 500MB of storage space, IBTimes reported. Unfortunately, older models of Motorola will not be updated anymore.
