Justin Bieber vs One Direction: The Biebs' ‘Purpose’ Desperate to Beat 1D's ‘Made in the AM’ in the Billboard Top Charts?

Justin Bieber seems to be exerting a lot of effort to be on top of the charts against One Direction. Bieber reportedly wants to drop the band down on the list and is taking extreme actions to make it possible.

According to a recent report from Page Six, the pop star "will do anything to top One Direction."

The media outlet wrote that Bieber is "desperate" to beat the English-Irish boyband. His crew came up with strategies to boost his album sales including his new track, "Purpose." His recent Staples Center show roughly sold 40,000 albums according to a source. Bieber also formed a partnership with "Lyft," a rider's app with a "buy and ride" button to download his album for only $5. Through the app, it could increase his ranking on the charts.

The insiders said that Bieber endings his days of public breakdowns and getting arrested could be his most daring course of action so far.

The Biebs apparently has moved on from those dark times. As a source close to the pop singer put it: "That was a totally different time in his life."

The source added, "He's done a lot of growing and maturing. He made some missteps on a personal level, but he's been addressing it with the media and his fans."

The "What Do You Mean" singer turned his focus on promoting his latest album, "Purpose." He will be on "The Tonight Show" this week. He also has an interview with Matt Lauer and a guest performance on "Today." Fans and observers might say that this is one way of Bieber showing determination to take the top spot on the music charts.

On Nov. 14, Saturday, Bieber just had a double performance on different locations namely Up & Down and 10ak where he also treated his fans to some drinks.

According to Vanity Fair, the Biebs would undeniably love to get ahead of the highly popular four-member band, but he's not going to do it "desperately," contrary to earlier reports.

On Nov. 13, Friday, Justin Bieber and One Direction both released their new albums, "Purpose" and "Made in the AM," respectively.
