'Fifty Shades Darker' Star Dakota Johnson to Co-Star with 'Pitch Perfect' Actress Rebel Wilson in New Rom-Com 'How to be Single'

"Fifty Shades Darker" star Dakota Johnson landed the lead role in the upcoming romantic-comedy "How to Be Single," co-starring Rebel Wilson from the hit "Pitch Perfect" film series.

Johnson will be seen trying to get back into the dating scene in "How to Be Single," a movie adaptation of the 2007 novel with the same title written by Liz Tuccillo. In the film, the 26-year-old actress plays the role of Alice, a woman living in New York who has just recently become single, Vanity Fair reported.

Alice will learn from Robin (Rebel Wilson) some pointers on how to get back into the dating scene and along the way, they will meet two more single women, played by Leslie Mann and Alison Brie. The romantic-comedy will revolve around the funny circumstances these women will get into to win a man in the Big Apple.

In the trailer released on Nov. 18, Wednesday, Wilson's comedic prowess was evident. The Australian actress and the "Fifty Shades of Grey" star will be seen in a lot of scenes together as Wilson's character becomes Alice's dating guru.

One particular scene that makes a hilariously funny impact is the sauna incident where Robin makes fun of Alice who is having a waxing problem. In the said scene, Wilson's character pertains to Alice's hairy situation as "Tom Hanks from Castaway" while making funny remarks, like "It's like Gandalf is staring at me."

Johnson's role in "How to Be Single" could be likened to Anastasia Steele's attributes in the sense that both characters are timid girls trying to break out of their shells. In the upcoming romantic-comedy, Johnson is getting back to her comedic roots. Before the "Fifty Shades of Grey" popularity, the daughter of Melanie Griffith was best known for her lead role in the comedy series "Ben and Kate."

Before the slated release of "Fifty Shades Darker" in 2017, fans of the movie series could line up to watch the Anastasia Steele actress in the upcoming rom-com film. "How to Be Single" will be shown in cinemas on Feb. 12, 2016.
