'Fallout Shelter' Thanksgiving Update: Pies, Pilgrims, and Turkey [PICS]

A post from the official Twitter account of "Fallout" announced that its mobile game, "Fallout Shelter," is getting a holiday makeover.

"Vault dwellers give thanks," the tweet reads, along with a sneak peek of what's in store for players who will download the Thanksgiving update. There are candles, pies, turkey, fruits and a pumpkin, a cornucopia, and of course--a female character dressed like a pilgrim.

On Instagram, "Fallout" posted another teaser photo, this time with a male pilgrim.

As the post states, the game's barracks and cafeterias will be fully upgraded and decked with Thanksgiving decor. There will also be pilgrim outfits available in the game's lunchboxes.

The update is free and is now available in the game's iOS and Android versions.

According to GameSpot, holiday-themed updates are becoming a regular thing for "Fallout Shelter," beginning with last October's Halloween update. The said update introduced cobwebs, cauldrons and costumes for a limited amount of time. With the release of the Thanksgiving update, fans can only expect that come December, "Fallout Shelter" will be announcing another holiday-themed update.

"Fallout Shelter" is a spin-off to Bethesda's popular "Fallout" franchise. Gameplay requires players to build and manage their own "vault." The player acts an overseer, who needs to guide and direct the citizens. The player also needs to keep his citizens happy by providing them with power, food and water. The happier the citizens are, the more items and rewards the player gets.

Though the game is free to download, Bethesda earns profit through in-app purchases. "Fallout Shelter" was released in June this year, receiving positive reception worldwide. Since its launch, it has reportedly grossed more than $5.1 million in microtransaction sales.

Meanwhile, "Fallout 4," Bethesda's biggest game to date yet, was released last Nov. 10. The first batch of patches is slated to arrive within this week.
